Paa - Pretty Impressive ...

Just back after watching Paa at Star Cinema...

The movie is pretty impressive and poignant. Abhishek Bacchan (henceforth AB) and Vidya Balan meet up in London, where both are pursuing their studies...and fall for each other. One thing leads to another, and Vidya finds out one fine day that she is carrying AB's child. Being the typical guy that he is, he advises her to abort the child, as a child at this juncture of their lives may lead their careers to an abnormal end. Vidya is confused and finally makes up her mind to have the child, though she never informs AB about it, but makes one final statement that she or her child will never come in the way of AB's career.

12 years pass on, and then one day Vidya's boy, Auro receives his prize for a competition from AB. (Auro suffers from a disease called Progeria,a condition of the body where the body ages 4-5 times faster than the body. The mind is the same as that of the age, but it could lead to n number of problems later). From then on, he becomes a kind of mini celebrity. When he is mobbed by media, he sends an email to AB, stating "I Hate You" and from then on, there is a camaraderie between AB and Auro. AB doesn't realise that Auro is his son, though Auro is aware of the fact that AB is his father.

Whether, AB and Vidya get together.. Whether Auro lives .. Whether AB's political career remains .. is the crux of the story, that is neatly told in a little over 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Vidya Balan rocks in this movie... Simply mindblowing acting.. I have seen her acting skills before, but this one... this one's is like saying, "The start of something special"... She gets quite a meaty role. First as a passionate woman, looking for romance... Then as the surprised lover, whose boyfriend asks her to abort the child... then as the Prodigal daughter, who returns home, pregnant, to ask forgiveness from her mother, (who is very supportive of her)... Then as the aspiring doctor, who handles child-births and counsels couples.. (er.. I mean gynaecology) ...then as the unwed mother of a boy who is suffering from a medical condition...Finally as the ex-lover of an MP, who is torn between the two worlds...
I will not be surprised if she is busy this season collecting awards...!!!

AB does a neat role. Good expressions. The role of a politician fits him to a 'T'. Loved his dialogues... For that matter, most of the dialogues were quite apt, short and kinda cool.. Good work there...

Paresh Rawal and Arundhati Nag have good roles too.. Excellently portrayal as the 'Bum' by Arundhati... :)

Background score by Maestro, does not require anything to be told.. As usual the Maestro has given one of his best compositions for this movie, although they have already been composed in Tamizh... Mudi Mudi by Shilpa Rao stands out... Really good alterations there...

Nice theme in the movie too, with AB being portrayed as a straightforward Politician. :)

Good movie... Worth a Watch... Will be worth your money...

P.S:- A Follow up on my earlier post on Sarees ...
Vidya Balan looks stunning in Sarees... :D (A statement after watching many of her movies..)
