Never Felt Better !!!!

I was in Muscat for 14 months. For 14 months it was like a exile. I struggled. I kicked. I was bloody disgusted. With my job and the attitude towards work at the place where I worked.

For 14 months, I toiled and I felt, I did not get the recognition that I actually deserved.

The picture back home is a stark contrast. To be very frank, I felt that I actually deserved to be back. I came back and the very next day, my manager was ready to get me back to his team and assign me work. Not only that, I was being asked my opinion on a number of things. I was already being discussed as an 'anchor' of many initiatives. Frankly speaking..oru semma image boost. I just wish, they had treated me like this in the previous team...maybe I would have performed better.

Bottomline :- The satisfaction that I could not get out of 520 odd days of working at a client site, I got it, by just working for 4 days in 'MY' team !!!! I fixed close to 100 issues in 4 days, and trust me, when I say this, I've never felt better, atleast at work !!!!!

Of Quizzes, Answers and Destiny ... Part 4

P.S:- You can read the previous Parts here. Part 3 | Part 2| Part 1

Requests from many quarters have been pouring in, for the next part of 'Of Quizzes, Answers and Destiny'. It has been more than a month since I had posted anything related to this, and I was, feeling quite guilty (actually lazy) about it..

Well Well, There is excitement in this post from the beginning, because, things were happening around me at that time. As soon as the science quiz was over, We all got up from our seats and were asked to get back to the places where our respective classmates were sitting, because the teachers wanted to adjust the chairs and tables for the next quiz.

The next quiz was a House Quiz, not a Science Quiz. Hence more prestigious. Even Dhanalakshmi Ma'm and Revathi Ma'm were at loggerheads at this. M (yes, the same M from the first post) and S (No.. Not the S who knew M but the S from the previous post.. :P) Each teacher wanted his/her team to win. Hence it was more of a cut-throat battle between the teachers, which we as kids loved to watch.

Just then, another Chemistry Ma'm came and spoke to Revathi Ma'm in hushed tones. Revathi Ma'm understood and nodded her head, and she called out to me.

'Hari. You wait here' and she pointed out to a corner on the podium like portico in the main school building. I was made to stand there for about 5 minutes, when suddenly K also joined me. I looked at him, and he looked back at me. We both started laughing. Maybe this was destined. Surprisingly the other three teams contained the same guys, who had participated in the previous quiz. Now that was really surprising. I think it was all pre-planned. M and S were already bloody pissed off at the debacle in Science Quiz. they had to salvage some pride from the House Quiz atleast.

Ironically I don't remember much of the House quiz. The only thing I remember very clearly that S and I were leaders of the pack and the other two teams (M and V's) were routed out very soon. Soon, S's team and mine, were going neck to neck on this. S was clearly looking at an easy win on this one. I would like to ctrl-v here what I posted in my previous post. It looked like as if the entire universe was plotting against me. Every easy question that S answered, it looked to me, as if it was pre-planned. The ease with which he answered the questions also made it look, as if that was the case, but in reality, when I look back now, it was just envy/jealousy, at the fact that, here was someone, of equal calibre or perhaps greater, vying for the same honors.

The question which actually changed this quiz was the one, right at the end of the quiz. It was the same type of question. Last one, With negative points for a wrong answer.

The question here was again, for which, I didn't have a single answer. It was either this or thi, but which one .. no.. I had no idea. I had to take the other team's 'help' in this. If they answered it wrong, I had it. Else, I had to make the kill. Arjuna was about to have his day.

I still remember the scene vividly, where K was clutching the sleeve of my shirt, and I was looking tensed across the makeshift stage, looking at both Dhanalakshmi Ma'm and S at the same time. There seemed to be a sinister smile on Dhanalakshmi ma'm face, which of course, was the figment of my overgrown imagination.

A voice said over the microphone :

'Which was/is India's Equatorial Rocket Launching Station ?'

The moment this question was asked, my two options, both equally tempting, flashed across my mind. I was once again, Arjuna, caught between the dharma of killing his enemies and the dharma of killing his own relatives. I know, it sounds strange and totally weird to see somebody comparing himself to Arjuna, but somehow, it is the one character, with which I could relate to, even 10 years back....

'Team B. Its your question.'

There was a flutter of indecisiveness in S's face, perhaps for the second time, in his life, and for the second time in the same day, perhaps within the gap of a couple of hours.

I heard a voice say, 'Sriharikota'

'Sorry Team B. It is the wrong answer.' Dhanalakshmi Ma'm was terribly disappointed, as her voice gave away the hope she had pinned on S.

'Team D, its your chance to win this quiz.'

'Yes... That's right. Team D has won this quiz. Haricharan, K and M(not THE M) , but another girl) have won this quiz.'

The disappointment was writ large on S and especially M's face. M had thought, that S would redeem some honor that day, but then, Arjuna did not lose to Jayadratha, on the fateful day.

Destiny shall continue....

P.S:- If you thought, that I had vanquished the ghosts of my Past with this quiz, you are mistaken.

P.P.S:- That one spark of jealousy, burnt many a house, in both our lives and in many others associated with it.

காதலிக்கவே நேரம் இல்லையா ?? - WoW !!!!

My sister pointed me to this song, from a serial on STAR VIJAY. It was called Kathalikka Neramillai... Frankly speaking ... listening to this song...I felt, How could I miss this one.. It was catchy and it had the feel that I actually like ....

You can listen to the song at this blog itself...

Of Wishes and Manifestation ...!!!

Well, This one is straight out of my dreams...

Two months ago, a thought germinated in my mind.. It was actually a manifestation of many hours of reading and contemplating on the occult.. It was that of buying a Tarot Card Set... I searched high and low in Muscat for a Tarot Card Set, but unfortunately could not find anything...

Around the same time, I was actually beginning to research for my astras posts... It was then I came across this wonderful book called Mahabharata - A Modern Rendering Ramesh Menon... on google books. It was very informative and I tried every avenue I knew to get this as an ebook, but failed.. And so after a long long time, decided that I needed to Buy this book...

It so happenned that on Friday, the 22nd, I was asking my Best Friend, a Tarot Card set and Ashok Banker's Ramayana Set as my Birthday Gifts but unfortunately It did not work out the way I had expected it to be... So as I was mulling over it, I paid a visit to Crossword in a Mall, and imagine my surprise when I found the Tarot Card Set literally shouting out to me..:) and of course, it is another great coincidence that the exact Ramesh Menon's Book, that I was looking for, was literally waiting for me to be picked up as a 2 part-set.. After about 3 minutes of deliberation I decided I was buying both !!! I haven't even opened my Tarot Pack yet, so please don't start ask me for a reading yet.. !!! :P .. Of course, I have started reading the Mahabharata... :)

It's been a long long time, since my wishes started crystallizing so rapidly... The last time it happened consistently was more than 15 years ago...

P.S:- One of my colleagues that your first Tarot Set brings you (good) luck..!!

P.P.S:- Both the items cost me exactly as much as I expected them to be.. !!! :)

P.P.P.S:- I wish the manifestation continues... !!!

P.P.P.P.S:- I don't deliberate much on things I value very much... Pretty much impulsive... Because I don't spend rashly.. :P

Diamonds ??? My Foot...!!!!

I guess, I now have a world record to my credit now.... I have read a book in less than 9 minutes... Yes.. !! It's a BOOK .. and not some pamphlet... Well, This Book is about 120 odd pages of Discovering and mastering 9 Powerful Principles that can change your life... It IS a record, because the author challenges that one can finish the book in less than 59 minutes... !!!

For a start, the 9 Principles are

Positive Energy

Bored ?? Already... ?? I've just started ...

The First 15 pages of this 'already-beginning-to-lose-respect' book is all about self praise by the author... How many universities are proud to have him, and how close he is to Shahrukh and Amitabh that they have written forewords for him, and how he is the face of New, Young India...

Then, starts the Bullshit... My words may seem strong... But, trust me, they are not superficial... They come from the bottom of my heart, for an expectation gone wrong/unsatisfied can be the most bitter experience in one's life...

Oh ! How disillusioned I was with the first words... 'Yes.. You are a diamond'
Then the author eulogises about how everyone is a diamond, and how everybody needs to be cut and polished in order to shine like a diamond, then he starts off with examples... To be frank, these examples can be found from any children's magazine... I guess, the author's choice was Wisdom. (The monthly G.K Magazine for Children)

The rest of the book is nothing but examples and lives of great people condensed and abridged. Sadly most of these are stories and anecdotes that we already know... I definitely expected better ... And the font ? What's with the author's understanding of his readers ? Does he think we are all folks with poor eyesight, to have his book printed, akin to a 5th grader's textbook ? Was it his PR's suggestion to increase the number of pages or his own indignant display of authority that the 'author-knows-best' ...

ShahRukh Khan may have spent 59 minutes in reading this book... It's not worth even 2.. Maggi is better... Have a cuppa Maggi and enjoy your weekends...and don't bother about this book....

P.S:- The Author is Arindam Chaudhuri. The book is titled 'Discover the Diamond in You'

P.P.S:- The cartoons in the book, make you think, if the author was really sane. I, for that matter, would never have allowed such callous cartoons on my book, anyday... NEVER !!!!

P.P.P.S:- The author quotes as trivia, that the whole book was texted down as SMS and that he virtually runs his organisation on SMS... I found the fact a joke because, here was someone who claimed he doesn't use e-mail. That's fine. It depends on one's own competencies too... But texting the whole book meant only one thing to me... The man's damn lazy ... !!!! All that is fine, but pray, doesn't he have a notepad on his laptop where he can actually type down his thoughts... ?

P.P.P.P.S:- I think that IIPM is badly in need of either good and free publicity and students or money... or both... Otherwise.. No editor, in his sane mind, would have actually released this book...!!!!

P.P.P.P.P.S:- NOM ..

P.S:- Somehow missed out the Part 3 ... Will try to somehow plug it it.. ASAP...

I've been Tagged !!!!

Ah.. This was one thing that was pending actually.. :)

Shiva's tagged me
with Honest Scrap.. Hence have to do justice ...

First of all I solemnly thank Shiva for awarding it down to me...

Here goes my list of 10 honest things about me...

10.) I love to watch cartoons, especially Dexter's Laboratory... and Reading Nagaraj Comics..
9.) I hate to distract myself, when Deepika Padukone or Nikita is on the screen.. (Big or small doesn't actually count)
8.) I'd actually like to read fast pacy thrillers and equally pacy romance novels, which unfortunately are hard to find... I am actually a sucker for romantic movies.. though I've never expressed it....
7.) It's my wish that at least one girl finds the guts to propose to me...:P
6.) I secretly pray that the girl is Deepika Padukone..
5.) I want to own a Corvette and a Beetle.. Both, well beyond my Budget at this point of time..
4.) I never forget even a small wrong thing done to me... Right from getting slapped from my Maths teacher, for a whistle that someone else blew in 9th standard to Standing outside the classroom and apologizing for a mistake that I did not do in College to reminding my colleague that she did not give me the recognition that was due to me at work... Sigh... I am a sadist.. Ain't I ?
3.) I am flattered when people say I have a good voice (for singing)
2.) If I like someone, I will go to any extent to please them... In case I don't like someone, I live as if they don't exist ...
1.) I am Lactic Acid intolerant.. Not Lactose...

Now for the seven people ... I actually don't even know 7 people who have blogs... Oh.My.God.. !!!! So Here is my List of 5 folks...

Naan Podum Mokkai... A Lady, who is trying to grab my foothold in the blogsphere... :P

Kokkarako Gummango ... Who is poised to take over from the career satirists of the world... Check out his Career Rupture Ratings Post.. !!!

Musings .. My Best Friend.. Yes, the same girl/lady who has provided content for my 'About Me' column... :P :D

Anand ... My collegemate and later colleague...

Shruti ... My school mate...(we've known each other for close to 16 years now....She figures in a couple of my posts too... So.. she's quite a celeb for a start.. )

Well.. Well Bloggers, the rules are the same.. Am quoting Shiv Verbatim...

Here are the 5 rules (to be strictly followed by those I tag in this post!):
1. Thank the person from whom you have received the award listing his / her blog link
2. List 10 honest things about yourself (like I shall do here)
3. Paste the ‘Honest Scrap’ logo on your blog (this is self-evident as my title for this post says)
4. Choose 7 other worthy bloggers and list their links (spread the joy)
5. Notify the bloggers of the award, requesting them to follow the rules (so that they will not miss to notice)

Finally .. Sundays are off !!!

Well, I am so happy today... I finally finally finally had a Sunday off.. :)

It so happens, that 14 months of 'exile' in Muscat had made me yearn for a Sunday that is off, and today happens to be the first Sunday that is off, after coming to work. I have tried to enjoy every moment of it as much as possible, and I guess I have succeeded. Getting up late on a Sunday morning, and like Shiv, getting into a multilemma as to what to read, especially with the plethora of choices that we have these days, is really a pleasure that is such a pain..!!!!

I am already looking forward to the next Sunday...though I am not looking forward to working for the week.. :P :) :D

Dil Toh Bachha hai ji ..!! :)

Aisi ulji nazar unse hatt ti nahi
Daant se reshmi dor katt ti nahi
Umar kab ki baras ke safaid ho gayi
Kaari badari jawani ki chatt ti nahi
Walla ye dhadkan bhadne lagi hai
Chehre ki rangat udne lagi hai
Darr lagta hai tanha sone mein ji
Dil to bachcha hai ji
Dil to bachcha hai ji
Thoda kaccha hai ji
Haan dil to baccha hai ji
Aisi ulji nazar unse hatt ti nahi
Daant se reshmi dor katt ti nahi
Umar kab ki baras ke safaid ho gayi
Kaari badari jawani ki chatt ti nahi
Ra ra ra ..

Kisko ptaa tha pehlu mein rakha
Dil aisa baaji bhi hoga
Hum to hamesha samajhte the koi
Hum jaisa haaji hi hoga
Hai zor karein, kitna shor karein
Bewaja baatein pe ainwe gaur karein
Dilsa koi kameena nahi
Koi to rokey, koi to tokey
Iss umar mein ab khaogey dhokhe
Darr lagta hai ishq karne mein ji
Dil to bachcha hai ji
Dil to bachcha hai ji
Thoda kaccha hai ji
Haan dil to baccha hai ji

Aisi udhaasi baithi hai dil pe
Hassne se ghabra rahe hain
Saari jawani katra ke kaati
Piri mein takra gaye hain
Dil dhadakta hai to aise lagta hai woh
Aa raha hai yahin dekhta hi na woh
Prem ki maarein kataar re
Taubah ye lamhe katt te nahi kyun
Aankhein se meri hatt te nahi kyun
Darr lagta hai mujhse kehne mein ji
Dil toh bachcha hai ji
Dil toh bachcha hai ji
Thoda kaccha hai ji
Haan dil toh baccha hai ji

Great song...But greater is the rendition.... not too loud, not too soft.. just about right... somehow for me, it has a melancholic feel....

Welcome Aboard..!!!

Ah... My sister and my Brother in Law are finally into the blogosphere. Phew.. Took me quite some time to convince them to join the bloggers craze, but finally they did it. Actually, I still believe, they did not do it for my sake. I guess they have been impressed with my site statistics and reviews and all the attention it has been getting.

My Sis's Blog

Ah.. She had a very funny name initially, somethink like Amulya and all. I thought, it was some marketing website for some milk based product, until I saw the profile.!!! :)

She's recently had a change of heart and a blog-makeover and so , I was worried if the blog name would read something like 'Milkmaid writes' or 'Cerelac Stories', or even worse 'Farex Tales'... Thank God.. Nothing untoward has happened. You can read the blog here. She's quite a good writer, I must confess, but I guess, inspiration can really make a mountain out of a rat .. isn't it ?? And especially when someone like me is your predecessor. :P

Partha's Blog

Good start there. He ended the first post on a suspense thriller range. Eagerly awaiting his second post.!!!

I guess both of you have learnt a lot of things from me, about blogging and the blogsphere. I hope you folks give my due credit.. :P .. And I must mention here, that both of you are quick learners... :)

And of course, any further image makeovers, pleas give it to me... :) :D
Of course, You will have to pay for it.. :P

P.P.S:- No azhuguni aatam by constantly refreshing the page, to increase the number of page loads.. OK .. :P

500 Days of (Non)Hyderabad...!!!

Well, this one is seriously a dedication to my favorite city - Hyderabad... :) :D

I am back in Hyderabad after 500 and odd days, and trust me, I have missed this city a lot... Much more than words can ever say...

I sat in a very comfortable place at my work place...absolutely no problem of transportation... Share Autos, Buses, Car Sharing, Bike sharing any time of the day and sometimes Nataraja Service... Food is a major problem for bachelors in Hyderabad, especially if you are a vegetarian... But then I have my company's canteen... For breakfast and lunch... dinner something to adjust... The city has n number of places to see and roam around during the week-end.... Full of shopping joints... If you have excess money... come and spend it in Hyderabad... :)

I missed the city...
500 days later, the city remains the same.. the faces have changed. The autowallah's charge the same Rs 25 from Madhapur to Manikonda... :) Food rates have not changed much... Quality too.. :P..Some new buildings have cropped up here and there.. The city has changed and yet not changed at all... :) ...

I love this city....

Au Revoir Oman... !!!! Bienvenue en Inde !!!

Probably the last post from Oman....Well, Finally Finally Finally Time has come for me to leave Oman.... I have been counting days since First October, the day I started counting the number of days I had remaining, before I flew back.... I guess I am one of the three guys who is leaving Oman, as per the promised schedule. All others till now had gotten it screwed up.. either themselves or by the client...

I do not know, what feelings are these... Mixed perhaps... My last 14 months here have been a roller coaster ride to say the least... Mix of emotions... High Voltage Drama when I first took over, and then I shunted it down, slowly, one volt at a time... !!!!
Of course I have my own grudges.. and I am not going to forget them at any cost... Hence, as per my own philosophy, I am not going to forgive too... The grudges will stay... The Scars do remind you of what you have gone through ... The scars are when the wounds heal.. not when they are afresh..!!!

Anyway.... This one is not a recollection of what happened at onsite with me...

I was just cleaning up some files on my laptop, wherein I came upon this file called Travellogue.txt It was supposed to be my travellogue, containing my travel and interesting things that happened to me during my stay in Oman.. but life became very bitter after a point of time.. that I dropped the thoughts altogether...

Here are my first ramblings, on landing in Muscat on 26th November 2008...

Finally in Muscat !!!!

So many procedures, so many documents phew ..

How is the city ?
It looks pretty cool. All roads are clean and straight and wide ...
Slept for some 7 hours straight from about 3.30 local time till 11 local time.
Ate potatoes, kuzhambu, rasam and rice for dinner, which roommates prepared.
Then I slept off again.
The next day, I woke up early .. around 6.30 local time and tried to call my father and mother, but Anand's phone's charge gave way, and so i had to wait for a long time, before i could make any further calls.

Chatted with my best friend over gtalk, for a long time.
There are no autos over major mode of transportation is taxis. who can sometimes charge exorbitantly.

Sounds funny ?? I don't know... May be nostalgic.. ?

A Quick recap at what I will be missing going back home... :)
(This one's inspired by Anand's Post. Don't worry, you cannot access it..:P)

1.) The people... Very friendly.. they don't start a conversation without enquiring 'How are you' (atleast), no matter how critical the issue is..

2.) The roads... Mindblowing... Cars move like Butter on a Hot Aloo Parantha...

3.) The Discipline with which folks drive here... There are some stray accidents... but then come on, for a country that has set 120 kmph as speed limit on a highway, and where the most common mode of transport is a car... this is very much acceptable...

4.) The Cars.. Ferrari... Corvettes... BMW's... Jaguars... Hummers... and of course, my sweethearts... Beetle....

5.) Corniche !!!!

6.) The long hours of window shopping in Lulu and Carrefour... Our weekends flew like this...

7.) Bindaas mornings... :) Getting up at 7:45 for 8:00 office.. :P

8.) Gtalk, Gmail access 24 hours... Never felt disconnected from the world anytime.. though hardly anybody connected to me...:)

9.) Office Politics, Gossip, Rumour and Humour.. We've spent hours on these things, every single day.. !!!

10.) Watching movies and staying up late upto 2 and 3 AM in the morning...

11.) Experimenting with Food.. Maharashtrian, Keralite, Turkish, Karnataka style...

12.) The Beaches... Qantab, Qurum, Al Shatti, Quriyat, Sawadi, Sur.... the list goes on .. :P

13.) Coconut Water and Veg Falafil... :P :D

Of course, my salary at onsite... :) :D

Things for which I really do not wish to stay in Oman...

Exorbitant cost of ISD calls... 200 Baiza for a minute.. ?? In my place, you can finish your breakfast at that cost..

Internet is goddamn expensive.. For a country that wants to computerize all its government related transactions, there is still a long way to go...

Taxi as a mode of transport is slightly expensive.. There can be a better solution...

K A A P I ... I hate coffee from artifical milk... :( :( :O

P.S:- More will continue.. May be sometime later ???
I may end up writing another post like Anand, on the lines of 'Crappier-Things-I-Learnt-at-Onsite'... :P :P
I hope he doesn't mind... :) :D

Of Item Girls and Sarees...

With Reference to my earlier post on 'Of Anchors and Sarees' , I find that it has been a very commonly searched item in my blog... and also I had promised a post on 'Nari with Saree'... I am not posting that now.. But this is one topic that has been running around in my mind for a long long time...

I am a guy who is crazy about women who wear sarees properly. Note.. Properly.. Saree is one of the most powerful attires I have ever seen... and the lady who wears it in the style she is most comfortable, will exude confidence and poise...

Now..coming to the crux...

I wanted to see how many songs are there, where an item girl wears a saree... :) :D
Come on, Don't blame me.. !!!! I like sarees.. :) This one is very specific to Tamizh..

Here go my top 5, but before that, a small clarification. Item song is a song done by a lady other than the heroine... and she should have worn a saree, atleast in one frame.. :) :D

First go the Honorable Mentions :- (These are the ones, which had an item song with the heroine itself doing it for the hero.. :P)

Arjuna Arjuna - Aei - Namitha... Keywords : Waterfalls, Rain, Namitha, Sarathkumar....

Sirichi Sirichi Vantha - Vasool Raja MBBS - Ragasiya... Keywords : Prabhu, Ragasiya...

Aasaya Kathula Thoothu - Johny - ??? Keywords :Sorry Don't know the name...

No.5 :- Nilavanathu Vaanathu mela - Nayagan - Kuyili ...
Keywords : Boat, Twilight, IR voice. One of the biggest hits of its time.

No.4 :- Thee Thee - Thiruda Thiruda - Heera...
Keywords : Camera, Lighting, Heera !!! (An Exception - For Heera, of course...)

No.3 :- VaalaMeenukkum - Chithiram Pesuthadi - Malavika...
Keywords : Simple Steps, Catchy Tune, different voice, and of course, Malavika !!!

No.2 :- Kathazha Kannala Kuthatha - Anjaathey -
Keywords : S N I K I T H A !!!

No.1 :- Kodana Kodi - Saroja - Nikita...
Keywords : N I K I T A !!!

That sums up my list.... :) :D

P.S:- I hope you liked the list.. :P I understand, that my definition of an item song is very skewed... but then suggestions are welcome.. :) I am not averse to a Part 2 of the series... :D

Astras - 4 - Pashupatastra

Note:- An internal mail by my colleague G, is the starting point of this series.
This could be labelled as a religious post. Readers Discretion is advised.
I enjoyed researching and writing it.
Hope you enjoy reading it...!!!

So what do we know about Pashupatastra ?

Well, there are very very few documented usages of Pashupatastra.

Indrajit's usage on Rama and Lakshmana.
Arjuna's supposed usage against Karna and Ashwathama.

Wikipedia quotes it as
The Pashupatastra (IAST: Pāśupatāstra, sanskrit: पाशुपतास्त्र), in Hindu mythology, is the irresistible and most destructive personal weapon of Siva discharged by the mind, the eyes, words, or a bow. Never to be used against lesser enemies or by lesser warriors, the Pashupata is capable of destroying creation and vanquishing all beings.

Though, no known warrior has dared use Pashupatastra on his enemy, there is an interesting story as to how Arjuna came in its possession. When Arjuna was in exile for 12 years, for having interfered in the privacy of his elder brother, Arjuna was advised by Vyaasa to obtain Divyastras for the Great War that was coming. Arjuna decided to pray to Lord Shiva for the Pashupatastra. It was rumoured to be the most powerful of all weapons and was reusable n number of times, provided it was not used against a lesser enemy.

At that time, an asura, called Mukasura in the guise of a pig, tries to kill Arjuna. Being devoid, of his Gandeeva (as he was praying), throws arrows with precision onto the pig. The pig continues to harass him. Frustrated, he apologises to Shiva in his mind, and takes his Gandeeva. The pig takes him far and deep into the forest. When Arjuna is fed up of the pig's antics, He takes one arrow, and stretching the bowstring till his ear, Arjuna shoots it at the pig. At almost the same instant, another arrow hits the pig. It turns out to be that of a kiraata. The kiraata claims the pig to be his, whereas Arjuna claims that the kill was his. The argument intensifies and Arjuna and Kiraata fight with each other. Arjuna realises that the Kiraata is no ordinary tribal. His arrows seem to become stronger and faster with every passing second.

The Kiraata humiliates Arjuna by saying that he may be a Kshyatriya, but his fighting is like that of a Brahmin, and that he must learn how to fight. Arjuna realises that he is tired and decides to propitiate Shiva before fighting the Kiraata. Arjuna sits down in meditation and prays for the Pashupatastra. When he finishes his prayer, he decorates the Shiv Ling with Tripund and puts a maala (garland) on it. Arjuna picks up the Gandeeva and twangs the bowstring. The Kiraata comes from the bushes. Arjuna sees the Tripund on this forehead and the Garland on his neck. It does not take time for him to realise the game. He bends his head in shame and asks for forgiveness. Lord Shiva is pleased with his devotion and decides to give Arjuna the Pashupatastra, which he uses in his fight against Ashwathama, which is detailed here. (in Story 3)

Hey, this is the Fourth post in the series... :)

Comments are welcome... !!!

P.S:- Many thanks to G for his 'Ram-Ram' threads. This series on Astras is dedicated to him.
P.P.S:- I promise to do more research and provide some interesting food for thought.

Being the writer, I am not able to actually pick my best posts together.. :)

So.. Folks, please send in your opinions on the best posts of my blog .. :D

P.S:- I would personally love to see my blog cross the 20000 visitor mark, before I leave this country... Would that happen.. ?? Keeping my fingers crossed... :) :D

Going to watch Vettaikaran ??? - Aaaal Izz Well...

Hey, don't go by the title...

It actually means, if you are going to watch Vettaikaran - then keep saying Aaaal izzzz Welll... because you need to be courageous enough to sit for the 2 and half odd hours of the movie. The story is crappy, and is already available all over the Internet.. Too much hype... :)

Anoushka looks fantabulous... Great Curves.. Great dance... Great Expressions.. Vijay surprises me... I've never seen him cry properly on-screen ... He does a good job this time... Apart from this, some good songs by Vijay Antony.. I admit that, I had trashed its songs a month ago... Athu pona maasam.. ithu intha maasam.. :) :P

Lack of comedy track is not felt... Sometimes I felt as if it was a full-length comedy feature film... Too many killings.. and stereotyping of rowdyism in Chennai... Arey Baba, Chennai is a very peaceful city... Why unnecessary bring in this kind of culture... ??

Bottomline :- Vijay needs to carefully select his movies in future...

P.S:- This supposedly good review is due to the fact that this has kind of rebuilt the image that I had of Vijay after Villu... :P

P.P.S:- To Vijay - If you are having hip pain, please do not ride horses.. It is very heart wrenching to see you holding your hip and riding the horse... :P
